Micron Boise Employee Housing: Where to Stay First

October 23, 2026 · Justin Murillo, REALTOR®

The short answer

Plan your first month before you fly. Three options cover almost everyone moving to Boise for Micron: an extended-stay hotel with a full kitchen near the airport or downtown, a furnished corporate apartment or short-term rental on a short lease, or an unfurnished month-to-month rental. Book one block for your whole window, because extended-stay hotels charge less per night for weekly and monthly stays.

What are your temporary housing options in Boise?

When someone searches for Micron Boise employee housing, they usually mean a furnished place to stay for the first weeks or months while they find a permanent home. Three options cover almost everyone relocating for a job: an extended-stay hotel with a kitchen, a furnished corporate apartment on a short lease, or an unfurnished month-to-month rental. If you haven't already, read my Micron relocation guide first, because where you stay should follow where you'll work, and the commute changes the whole decision.

  • Extended-stay hotels with full kitchens, rented by the night, week, or month. The fastest option to set up, with no furniture to buy and no utility bills to start.
  • Furnished corporate apartments and short-term rentals on leases of a month or more. More space than a hotel, utilities often included, and the middle price point.
  • Unfurnished month-to-month rentals, with the lowest rent per month, but you bring or rent the furniture. Best when you'll be here several months.

Which extended-stay hotels near Boise have full kitchens?

These four extended-stay hotels all have kitchens in the rooms. They sit by the airport on Vista Avenue, near Boise Towne Square, downtown, and in Meridian.

Property Where What you get
Extended Stay America Suites Boise Airport 2500 S. Vista Ave, Boise Full kitchen; nightly, weekly, or monthly stays
Candlewood Suites Boise Towne Square 700 N. Cole Rd, Boise Full kitchen with dishwasher; short or long stays
Home2 Suites by Hilton Boise Downtown 202 S. 6th St, Boise Full-size kitchen; extended-stay brand
My Place Hotel Boise/Meridian 3050 E. Jewel St, Meridian In-room kitchen; pet friendly

Extended-stay hotels charge less per night for weekly and monthly stays, so book one block for your whole window instead of adding nights one at a time. Check the weekly and monthly rate for your exact dates before you book.

Where you stay sets your first commute to the campus at 8000 S. Federal Way. Measured off-peak on October 23, 2026, the Extended Stay by the airport is about 5 miles and 9 minutes from the campus, Home2 Suites downtown about 7 miles and 14 minutes, Candlewood Suites near Boise Towne Square about 9.5 miles and 15 minutes, and My Place in Meridian about 14 miles and 19 minutes. Rush hour takes longer, and my commute post has the full route-by-route breakdown.

What are the furnished apartment and corporate housing options?

If you'll be in Boise for a month or more, a furnished apartment usually beats a hotel on space and on price per month. Corporate housing providers lease furnished apartments, condos, and townhomes to relocating workers on short leases. In October 2026, corporatehousing.com's Boise page listed 100 furnished corporate rentals in the city.

Two marketplaces list furnished monthly rentals in Boise. On October 23, 2026, Furnished Finder's Boise page showed more than 800 furnished monthly rentals near Boise. In October 2026, HouseStay's Boise page put the average monthly rent for a furnished one-bedroom at about $2,949, with listings from $1,759 to $4,882, and a furnished two-bedroom at about $2,730.

For scale, the median rent across all Boise rentals on Zumper was about $1,785 a month in October 2026, so a furnished place costs more because you're paying for furniture, utilities, and the short lease. My cost of living guide has the full rent picture across the valley.

How do Idaho's rental laws affect a short lease?

Idaho's landlord-tenant rules sit in state code, and three matter on a short lease. There is no state cap on a security deposit; the amount is whatever the lease says. The deposit has to come back within 21 days after you move out, or within the time your lease sets, up to 30 days, with a signed, itemized statement of any deductions. A month-to-month tenancy can be ended by either side with one month's written notice, under Idaho Code section 55-208.

The City of Boise adds its own renter protections: limits on rental application fees, a ban on retaliation and on source-of-income discrimination, and a required written notice of landlord and tenant responsibilities for new tenants. The city also repealed its short-term rental license requirement, effective May 18, 2026, so short-term rentals in Boise no longer need a city license.

The short version

  • Book one block for your whole window. Extended-stay hotels with full kitchens rent by the night, week, or month, and longer stays cost less per night.
  • Off-peak, the Extended Stay by the airport is about 9 minutes from the Micron campus, downtown about 14, and Meridian about 19.
  • A furnished one-bedroom averaged about $2,949 a month on HouseStay in October 2026.
  • Idaho has no security deposit cap, deposits come back within 21 days unless the lease sets a longer time, up to 30, and one month's notice ends a month-to-month tenancy.
  • Read my Micron relocation guide for the full moving checklist.

Common questions
